Don't Be a Data Cookie Monster – Protect Data

As we celebrate Data Privacy Day on Jan. 28, it's a timely reminder that personal data is precious - and we have a responsibility to protect the privacy of others, just as we would our own.

It can be tempting to be a "data cookie monster" gobbling up as much data as is available, and potentially leaving behind crumbs wherever we go. By being mindful of privacy best practices, we can consume data responsibly and avoid putting data at risk.

The County of San Diego has physical, administrative and technical controls in place to protect and safeguard County information. Employees should refer to Departmental, Group, and CAO Admin Manual Policies as a guide for handling and safeguarding County information.

Additionally, the County of San Diego Chief Technology Office TechBlog and monthly Security Awareness News are resources for you to stay up on privacy and security considerations. Visit Security Awareness - Monthly Newsletter January 2025 for this month’s security awareness newsletter.
