County’s Kaiser Kiosk Offers Expanded Services
/
Getting and staying healthy just got a whole lot easier for County employees. The Kaiser Kiosk at the County Operations Center now offers several new services, including free flu shots and vaccinations.
The Kaiser Kiosk, also known as Healthspot, is a private, walk-in medical booth that allows patients to “visit” with a doctor using high-definition videoconferencing. A nurse is also on site for patients. Typically patients visit when they have a fever, cold symptoms including sore throat and cough, flu, rash, eye conditions, allergies or an earache.
Did you miss the County’s flu shot drive in September and October? Flu shots are available to current Kaiser Permanente members from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and from noon to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Kaiser Kiosk. A flu shot is the best way to protect yourself from getting the flu and spreading it to others.
In addition, on Thursdays, other vaccinations are available at the kiosk to current Kaiser Permanente members. A nurse can give tetanus, diphtheria, pneumonia and/or a Hepatitis B series vaccination on Total Health Thursdays between 8:30 and 11 a.m. and noon and 4 p.m.
And starting in January, all County employees can stop by on Wellness Wednesdays to get your biometrics checked. The biometric screening consists of a glucose and cholesterol tests.
To book an appointment for your flu shot or vaccinations, call 858-278-2802 or email sdcountyhealthspot@kp.org.
The Kaiser Kiosk is located at 5530 Overland Ave. on the second floor. Visit HR's Employee Wellness website for more info on the kiosk.
