CSDFEA Wants to Honor Your SHEroes

Do you have a female hero or “shero”? Nominate them to the County of San Diego Filipino-American Employees’ Association’s Sheroes program for Women’s History Month.

CSDFEA explained that a shero is defined as “a woman admired or idealized for her courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities; a heroine.” A shero can be a family member, friend, teacher, coach, co-worker, mentor, community advocate, famous trailblazer, etc.

Email CSDFEA your shero’s name, picture (optional) along with why she is your shero by March 22. Many nominees will be included in CSDFEA’s 2024 Women’s History Month Newsletter to be published at the end of March and on InSite.

Your View: Making Sure Everyone is Counted

Taken during January’s Point in Time Count, this photo was submitted by Andrew Gregor from the Office of the County Counsel, who is pictured on the left. He counted alongside volunteers from the Corporation for Supportive Housing, PATH, and the San Diego River Park Foundation. He called it a great experience and appreciates that the County encourages employees to participate.

Serving Up Support for the Employee Flood Relief Fund

Child Support Services is nearing its goal of raising $2,000 to help employees impacted by recent flooding with the Coffee Break Challenge.

The department’s executive team found a way to fuel mornings with warmth and generosity by providing coffee at each of its locations through March 14, giving staff a chance to donate to the County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) Flood Relief Fund to support our fellow workers who experienced damage caused by the Jan. 21-23 storms.

They’re getting closer to their goal, collecting more than $1,300 in just three days.

Approximately $100,000 in grant funds have been requested from CECO and there is still time to raise these much-needed funds.

Try your own Coffee Break Challenge, Pie in the Eye, or another creative fundraising idea and share a photo and details so we can highlight it on InSite! Donating is easy and it’s tax deductible.

You’ll be helping employees like these:

“My whole downstairs was flooded, everything was ruined, and my car was totaled.”

– County employee

“Water was almost 5 feet high and filled the entire home… everything will have to be rebuilt.”

– County employee

Donations can be made online at: https://donorbox.org/ceco-flood-relief-fundraising
